GVF MAPLE - "Our Story"
Located in Holland Vermont (only a quick 15 miles from the Canadian border), GVF Maple is a proud family owned & operated Vermont based, pure maple syrup producer. While utilizing the beautiful maple trees on Mt. John, we are not only able to benefit from the diversity of trees we tap but can also take great honor in knowing our land is taken care of to the best of our ability. We are able to say this confidently as our property is happily the product of not only a sugaring facility but served many years as a family dairy farm and successful sawmill operation...
all reaching back 5 generations!
While pure Vermont maple syrup has always run in the family, GVF Maple wasn't officially established until 2016 by Jeremy Murphy. As the youngest sibling of 3 with an unbreakable connection/bond to the family land, he knew starting GVF Maple was the best decision for him. Luckily, Jeremy has been able to work side by side with not only family but with friends who have been there since day one. With his biggest supporters close by and land that has never let him down, GVF Maple will forever be one of his proudest accomplishments.
As we expand our sugar bush each season, Jeremy and the whole maple crew remain extremely thankful for the opportunity to continue working our land, as our ancestors had.
Now we're sure you're all wondering where our name comes from - before we explain, we want to remind you that sugaring has been a life long adventure for our family passed on from generation to generation. With that being said like any good name, it has history....which is the best recipe for a name created with love. “GVF” stands for an old name collected many years ago by past family members & friends, abbreviated for “Gimpy Valley Farm”. Thanks to that name, we all to this day are able to still carry fond memories of our family’s dedication to each other, while working towards a common goal of preserving our land.
GVF Maple gladly remains harvesting and maintaining our own land for each step of the pure maple syrup process while accepting large contracts with neighboring families. It's exciting to state we've grown each season that passes, currently the 2019 season is a continuation of our 2nd year expansion adding an additional 3,600 trees tapped! Overall our sugar bush consist of approximately 6,500 trees tapped to date! Expansion will continue, bringing much excitement as our sugar bush approaches the 10,000 mark!
